In Christianity, born again refers to a "spiritual rebirth" (regeneration) of the human soul or spirit, contrasted with the physical birth everyone experiences. The origin of the term "born again" is the New Testament: "Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born again.'" [Jn 3:3] Source:  Wikipedia

In the book "Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain," author Charles R. Cross states Cobain became a born-again Christian when he was a teenager due to a friend he had met.

I met Kurt in 1986 during a telephone call. I was introduced to him by Andrew Wood.  Kurt and I continued to talk on the telephone until the week he died in 1994.  I started a blog to journal my memories of our shared conversations.
